Try before you commit — now also in Qlik Cloud Government

Temporary compute engine overrides are now live in Application performance evaluation. Right from the evaluation screen, pick any engine size larger than what's assigned (Large 40 up to Large 200) and run it once. No new permissions, no cost, no commitment: the override applies to that single run, then reverts automatically.

Every engine size is visible to every user, so you do not need a Large application capacity license to try one out. It's the fastest way to know if a bigger engine is worth it before you make it permanent, and it stacks with existing recommendations for an even bigger jump. In one example, moving an application from Large-60 to Large-120 cut initial load time by 38%. Results will vary by application.

Share, generate, and publish API contracts in Qlik Cloud

API Contracts now includes new governance capabilities for teams that design, share, and publish APIs.

• Share entire API repositories, not just single versions, for cleaner governance.

• Generate contracts directly from a prompt.

• Publish contracts to the Qlik Cloud Catalog, where they become immutable and versioned.

This brings three key benefits:

• Stable contracts for developers, who build against a version that will not shift under them.

• Full traceability, letting teams trace any implementation issue directly to the exact contract version behind it.

• Access beyond developers, letting architects, consultants, and analysts review documentation and submit change requests.

Build scheduled and triggered automations from your AI assistant

Your AI assistant can now build automations that run on their own, not just ones you start by hand. Using the Qlik automation builder skill with the Qlik MCP server, describe when an automation should run, for example "every weekday at 7am", and your assistant creates it with the schedule already in place. You can also ask for an automation that another tool should start, such as a Qlik Answers assistant, a sheet button or an AI agent, and your assistant sets it up to accept the values that caller sends.

Why it's worth doing:

• Go from a plain language request to an automation that runs on a schedule, without opening the Automate editor to set the recurrence.

• Build automations that agents and other tools can call, passing in values such as an app ID for the automation to work with.

• Check the schedule before the first run, because your assistant restates it in plain language alongside the technical rule.

Good to know:

• Connections used by an automation must already exist. Your assistant can find and bind them, but it can't create them for you.

• An automation can have one schedule.

Application script lifecycle tools for Qlik MCP server

New Qlik MCP tools support the application and script lifecycle from your LLM client. You can create an application, inspect and update its load script, run a reload, and verify the results from status and logs. These tools support both guided authoring and automated workflows.

The new tools let you:

• Create applications and generate or retrieve script content.

• Retrieve, replace, and patch the application load script.

• Trigger, monitor, and cancel reloads, and retrieve reload logs.

• Inspect the resulting application data model.

AWS PrivateLink support for Direct Access Gateway

Customers with Qlik Cloud Analytics Enterprise subscriptions or Qlik Sense Enterprise SaaS can now establish an AWS PrivateLink endpoint between their data and their Qlik Cloud tenant using the Direct Access Gateway. This means data loaded to Qlik Analytics applications can be sent over a private network connection. New Direct Access gateway version (1.8.0)

Direct Access gateway 1.8.0 introduces both new and enhanced features, and resolves several issues. For upgrade instructions and a list of resolved issues, see Upgrading the Direct Access gateway installation.

This version introduces new and enhanced functionality as well as several bug fixes.

• Containerized deployment (with Linux support)

  In addition to the existing Windows installation, Direct Access gateway can now be deployed in a containerized Docker environment. This allows Direct Access gateway to be deployed in Linux and Windows environments via a container. This first container release supports the ODBC connector (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Oracle) and the REST connector.

Qlik Cloud Analytics: "When data source is updated" event is back

When we introduced enhanced self-service scheduling in April 2025, we removed the When data is refreshed option, which had let reload schedules trigger automatically when a dependent dataset was updated. At the time, we weren't able to carry that capability forward into the new task-based scheduler right away.

That capability is now returning. In the task editor, under Based on → Event, you can now select When data is refreshed to trigger a task automatically when a data update is detected in an upstream Qlik Talend Data Integration project that loads data into an analytics application.

This brings back the event-driven automation the old scheduler offered, now built natively into the new self-service scheduling framework — with full compatibility with the multi-task model.

Visual Task Chain Viewer

Understanding multi-step workflows just got a lot easier. With this release, you can now see your task dependencies visually — no more mentally mapping how scheduled tasks connect or digging through technical editors to piece it together.

This first phase introduces a tree-view chain visualization, purpose-built for the most common workflow pattern: sequential, dependent tasks. Once you've set up dependent tasks — like chaining a data pipeline step to an app reload — you can now see that chain laid out visually in a simple parent-child structure that's easy to read at a glance.

What you can do:

• See your sequential task chains visualized (e.g., data prep task → app reload task)

• View dependency relationships clearly, without needing to model them mentally

• Spot where a chain is running or has failed, directly in the visual view

What's next: This is the first step in a broader rollout. A future phase will add advanced graph-based views supporting multiple upstream/downstream dependencies for more complex orchestration needs.

Data load editor and Script editor: IDE-grade editing experience with dark mode (Public Preview)

Feature in Preview

The Data load editor and Script editor now offer an IDE-grade editing experience for writing Qlik script in your applications and scripts. Activate it from your user profile under Feature preview. Once activated, you can switch back to the classic editor at any time from the Next-gen editor menu in the toolbar.

• Dark mode: Switches the script editor to a dark background color scheme for a more comfortable editing experience. Note that dark mode applies to the script editor area; other parts of the Qlik Cloud interface are not affected.

• Improved syntax highlighting: Revised color scheme for better contrast and readability.

• Code folding: Collapse and expand LOAD statements, subroutines, FOR loops, and other blocks to focus on the relevant parts of your script.

• Code navigation: Go to Definition, Go to References, and Peek options to navigate between tables, variables, and other script constructs. A minimap provides a quick overview of the current script section.

• Syntax hints on hover: Inline syntax help and links to the help portal, available as you hover over keywords and functions.

Build landing experiences with Pages (Public preview)

Feature in Preview

Pages lets you build a free-form, canvas-based landing experience instead of being limited to horizontal swimlanes of collections, either for yourself or for a group of users.

What you can do:

• Build pages on an open canvas layout rather than fixed swimlanes

• Add a mix of widgets: charts, rich text, lists based on e.g. collections

• Create multiple pages, tenant-wide, for a specific group, or for personal use

Date expressions in validation rules

You can now use date, time, and timestamp functions in validation rule expressions, directly from the rule builder, extending the same expression syntax already available for arithmetic and string/number operands.

What’s available

• Interpretation functions: Use Date#(value [, format]), Time#(value [, format]), and Timestamp#(value [, format]) to parse a text value as a date, time, or timestamp.
• Formatter functions: Use Date(val [, format]), Time(val [, format]), and Timestamp(val [, format]) to display any date, time, or timestamp as text in the format of your choice.
• Current date and time: Use Today() to return the current date and Now() to return the current timestamp.
• Date arithmetic: Use AddMonths(date, n [, mode]) to add n months to a date, and AddYears(date, n) to add n years. Use the "-" operator to compute the duration between two dates, times or timestamps.
• Date component extraction: Use Year(date), Month(date), Day(date), and Week(date) to extract the year, month, day of month, or ISO week number.

Users also benefit from inline expression validation with actionable error feedback before the rule is saved.
