Date expressions in validation rules

You can now use date, time, and timestamp functions in validation rule expressions, directly from the rule builder, extending the same expression syntax already available for arithmetic and string/number operands.

What’s available

• Interpretation functions: Use Date#(value [, format]), Time#(value [, format]), and Timestamp#(value [, format]) to parse a text value as a date, time, or timestamp.
• Formatter functions: Use Date(val [, format]), Time(val [, format]), and Timestamp(val [, format]) to display any date, time, or timestamp as text in the format of your choice.
• Current date and time: Use Today() to return the current date and Now() to return the current timestamp.
• Date arithmetic: Use AddMonths(date, n [, mode]) to add n months to a date, and AddYears(date, n) to add n years. Use the "-" operator to compute the duration between two dates, times or timestamps.
• Date component extraction: Use Year(date), Month(date), Day(date), and Week(date) to extract the year, month, day of month, or ISO week number.

Users also benefit from inline expression validation with actionable error feedback before the rule is saved.

The revised Qlik Answers business logic experience in AI optimization provides a focused experience for optimizing your applications for Qlik Answers. The new Semantic understanding tab lets you review and refine AI-generated descriptions for fields and master items, giving you fine-grained control over how Qlik Answers interprets your data model.

Qlik Answers: Index images in PDF documents

Knowledge bases using Qlik Answers enhanced accuracy can now index images in PDF files for semantic search. Images are processed alongside text content using multimodal embeddings, enabling richer answers that incorporate visual information such as charts, diagrams, and infographics from your documents. Images will be indexed after the next reindexing operation.

This feature is available in the following regions:

• US East (North Virginia)
• Asia Pacific (Tokyo)

Manage automations end-to-end from your AI assistant

You can now discover, create, update, and delete Qlik Automate directly from your preferred GenAI platform using the Qlik MCP server. Automations are reusable workflows that trigger external actions such as sending notifications, executing integrations, or running scheduled tasks.

The full lifecycle management includes:

• Discover and explore: Search for automations, inspect their inputs, and understand available connectors and connections that power them.

• Run and monitor: Execute automations with inline values, handle interactive input prompts within your conversation, check run status, and view output without leaving your LLM client.

• Create and manage: Build new automations, update existing ones with revised schedules or logic, and delete automations when they're no longer needed.

• Govern connectors: Review available automation connectors and their webhook configurations to understand integration capabilities.

An official automation skill for LLMs is available from GitHub, guiding LLMs in the use and creation of automations based on your prompts. These capabilities enable autonomous automation lifecycle management and multi-step analysis tasks integrated directly into your agentic workflows.

Introducing data contracts for datasets

Data contracts in Qlik Cloud add a continuous evaluation layer to dataset quality management. The contract checks the dataset against defined thresholds, and produces a status signal before a violation reaches consumers. Owners and consumers see that status through visual indicators and are notified when expectations are not met. The result: quality degradation surfaces to the owner directly, without needing a consumer to notice or report it first.

What is available

• Contract definition, evaluation, and status visibility at dataset level
• Quality-based expectations defined using Qlik Trust Score dimension metrics
• Threshold-based warning ranges, ahead of a violation
• Visual indicators for in-contract / out-of-contract status
• Notifications on violation, both a visual indicator and a central notification

Agentic data stewardship

Data stewardship in Qlik Cloud adds an AI remediation layer to your stewardship sprint workflow. Before records are assigned to human stewards, the AI analyzes each issue and proposes a corrected value where its confidence is sufficient. Stewards then review, accept, or modify each suggestion. The result: stewards can apply their judgment at scale, on larger volumes of recurring data issues, without losing the human accountability that makes remediated data trustworthy.

• AI cell level resolutions, proposed before human assignment

• Three state cell visualization, unmodified, AI resolved, or manually resolved, so stewards can see at a glance what the AI touched

• Steward override on any AI proposed value: accept, modify, or reject

• A full audit trail for every suggestion and every decision: actor, timestamp, original value, and resolved value

MCP tools for declarative pipelines

Qlik MCP server now includes three additional tools purpose-built for declarative pipeline development: qlik_search, qlik_get_pipeline_project_details, and qlik_search_connection_objects. These tools let coding agents such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot query a live Qlik Cloud tenant directly from the editor:

• qlik_search has been extended to return pipeline projects and pipeline connections in addition to existing catalog resources.

• qlik_get_pipeline_project_details returns a project's binding values.

• qlik_search_connection_objects lists the source tables and views available in a given data connection.

With these tools, coding agents can introspect a live Qlik tenant's connection names, table structures, and project bindings, reducing the risk of pipelines failing on import due to incorrect assumptions.

View Direct Access gateway benchmark results in Administration activity center

Direct Access gateway now surfaces benchmark test results directly in the Administration activity center, giving administrators more transparency into gateway performance without needing to dig through log files.

Benchmark tests are diagnostic operations that measure network connectivity and performance between the Direct Access gateway and Qlik Cloud. Use them to troubleshoot reload performance, establish performance baselines, or compare gateways.

You can now view the results of these benchmark runs directly in the Administration activity center, making it easier to identify network conditions that affect reload performance and to gather the information you need for troubleshooting — without leaving the admin experience.

To use this functionality, you need Direct Access gateway version 1.7.17.

Now in Qlik Cloud Government: Programmatically manage your organization's automations, without transferring ownership

Trusted OAuth machine-to-machine (M2M) bot users can now back up, audit, migrate, and manage automations across a tenant programmatically with the admin.automations scope, including ones owned by other users - without having to temporarily transfer ownership first.

This builds on the admin.apps scope which already provides access to private application content for these administrative and programmatic use cases.

Flexible scheduling for automations

Automations can now be scheduled using the same recurrence options available for app reload scheduling, making it easier to run automations exactly when you need them.

Previously, automation schedules were limited to a start date, an end date, and a fixed recurrence interval. Anything more specific, such as running only on weekdays, had to be built into the automation logic itself using condition blocks.

With this update, you can now schedule automations to run at frequencies including:

• Weekly, monthly, or yearly, and not just at fixed intervals

• On specific days of the week or month

• On recurring patterns such as the last day of every month

• Multiple times per day within a defined time window

• Between a start time and end time each day until a defined end date

Introducing change management for lake landing replication tasks

Store changes settings are now available for lake landing replication tasks in a dedicated Store changes tab. With these new capabilities, lake landing replication functionality further bridges the gap with standard replication functionality, enabling consistent change management across replication task types.

Key features include:

• Change Table capture: Automatically store INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE operations from the source in Change Tables on the target platform for incremental downstream processing.
• DDL handling options: Choose whether to automatically apply schema changes from the source to Change Tables or ignore DDL modifications to maintain fixed table structures.
• Configurable storage: Select whether to capture both before and after image data on updates, and customize Change Table naming conventions with configurable suffixes and header column prefixes.
• Header column management: Exclude specific system metadata columns from Change Tables to reduce storage requirements, or keep all header columns for complete audit information.
• Flexible full load behavior: Determine how existing Change Tables are handled when a full load starts—DROP and CREATE, delete old changes only, or keep all historical changes. …
