This release brings GPT-6.1 Sol to Glean, moves the Showpad connector to general availability, opens the Vitally connector beta, and redesigns the Assistant model picker with cost and intelligence ratings. The Glean browser extension now opens in your browser's native side panel, and the release also delivers admin setup improvements, security hardening, and reliability fixes.

Showpad connector now generally available

The Showpad connector is now generally available, and the Beta label has been removed from the setup experience. Connect Showpad to make your sales enablement content findable in Glean alongside the rest of your company knowledge. The connector supports federated search and fetch with per-user permissions, so each person sees only the Showpad content they already have access to — results stay permissions-aware without extra configuration.

How to access: Admins can add Showpad from the Add data source page in the Admin console.

Quick Capture on iOS

On iOS 26, Quick Capture lets you instantly create notes from the Lock Screen, Control Center, Home Screen widgets, or Shortcuts without waiting for your vault to load.

• Customize Locations to capture to a new note, today’s daily note, a bookmarked note, or any note you choose, with optional templates.

Improvements

• Text and interface elements now scale with your system’s preferred text size, including larger accessibility sizes.
• Right-to-left (RTL) languages: Swipe gestures and page animations are now flipped.
• Settings now open in a sheet over the app. Swipe anywhere to dismiss.
• iOS: Added support for the new extra large widgets in iOS 27 for View Note and Quick Capture.
• iOS: Share Sheet now uses the vault accent color.
• Android: The Open Note widget now displays the name of the note.

Open individual Markdown files

You can now open individual Markdown files from outside your vault in Obsidian, and preview them on macOS using Quick Look. Files open in your current window.

• Added the “Open file from outside the vault…” command. Pick a Markdown file on your computer and view it in the app.
• Obsidian now appears in your operating system’s Open with menu, and you can set it as the default app for Markdown files.
• On macOS you can use Quick Look previews for Markdown files even when Obsidian is closed.
• Added document icons on macOS and Windows for .md, .base and .canvas.
• Image embeds and links to other local files resolve relative to the Markdown file’s folder.
• Use Outline to navigate headings and Outgoing links to browse linked files.

Kanban view and group options for Bases …

This release makes Agent Identity generally available, brings the Fathom, Crayon, and Veeva Vault connectors and the Platform Skills API to general availability, and turns on the updated left navigation for everyone. It also adds six new Model Context Protocol (MCP) server templates, new admin controls for Salesforce API usage and voice transcription, and a set of reliability fixes.

Agent Identity is now generally available

Give each Glean agent its own identity — its own governed account in every system it connects to — so agents act and appear as themselves instead of running under a person's credentials. Builders can attach admin-governed service credentials to their agents and configure dedicated Slack and Teams apps, while admins manage service credentials and Knowledge Profiles using existing access controls. The result is clearer attribution for agent activity and tighter governance over what each agent can reach.

How to access: Available by default. Admins manage service credentials and Knowledge Profiles in the Admin console; builders attach credentials when configuring their agents.

Improvements

• Bases: Added “Hide column” to the right-click menu of a kanban column.
• Bases: A base made with “Create new base” now names its first view “View” instead of “Table”.
• Search in the File Explorer, Bookmarks, Outline, and Sync views now matches the full path of each item. Excluding a term (e.g. -Archive) now hides a matching folder and everything inside it.
• The Outline and Outgoing links views now work for files opened from outside the vault.

No longer broken

• Bases: Fixed “Copy path” showing up below “Delete” when you right-click a file in a table, cards, or kanban view.
• Bases: Fixed a base failing to load when a view’s groupOrder is not a list.
• Bases: Fixed “Add group” in the Group menu not adding a group when selecting a link suggestion.
• Fixed property suggestions sometimes showing results for an earlier query, which made Enter pick an old link instead of what you typed.
• Fixed a memory leak in the metadata cache after opening and editing external files.

Custom blocks in markdown

The markdown content API and Notion MCP now read custom blocks with inherited bindings as <custom-block definition-id="…" url="…" /> instead of <unknown>. You can place existing definitions and preserve unchanged instances during page edits; see Working with markdown content. Definition creation remains in private alpha.

New SIEM event for the AI meeting notes consent setting

The SIEM and DLP event stream now sends workspace.settings.meeting_notes_consent_setting_updated when an admin changes whether a workspace requires consent before AI meeting notes transcription. The payload carries the final state, either enabled or disabled. See SIEM events.

This is separate from the existing audit log entry for a person confirming consent in a meeting. The new event records a change to the requirement, not an instance of consent.

This release turns on usage limits for identity provider (IdP) groups by default, adds PowerPoint export for HTML slide decks, brings Claude Sonnet 5.5 to Assistant and Agents, and expands the Model Context Protocol (MCP) server library with 67 new templates. It also delivers new connector betas, stronger permissions enforcement, durable agent-run APIs, and a set of reliability fixes.

Set usage limits for identity provider (IdP) groups from the billing dashboard

Admins can now set usage limits for identity provider (IdP) groups directly from the billing dashboard. Many enterprises already manage access through IdP groups, so this brings spend control to the same groups your organization uses everywhere else. Group-mode spend limits are on by default, giving finance and platform owners finer-grained control over consumption without extra setup, and they can still be turned off for your deployment if you prefer a different model.

How to access: Admins set group limits from the billing dashboard in the Admin console. Group mode is on by default and can be turned off per deployment.

The redesigned chat search experience organizes everything you've created in Glean into clear categories — Chats, Artifacts, and Meeting Notes — so you can jump straight to the right kind of result. A new sort dropdown lets you order results by relevance or recency, making it easy to pick up where you left off or track down an artifact from weeks ago. Search across your history is now faster and more predictable, whether you remember an exact phrase or only an approximate timeframe.

How to access: Open search from your chat history, then filter by Chats, Artifacts, or Meeting Notes and sort by relevance or recency. No admin action needed.

A new native side panel for the browser extension …

Rate limit waits in the response body

Any 429 or 529 response that includes a Retry-After header now repeats the wait in the body as additional_data.retry_after, so clients that can't read headers, such as MCP clients, can still see how long to wait. Two new rate_limit_reason values identify an endpoint's own limit (public_api_endpoint_rate_limit) and a connection whose API access has been restricted (public_api_request_blocked). A workspace-limit 429 now says that the limit is shared by all of the workspace's connections. See Request limits.

Page writes return 504 when a request times out

Update a page's content as markdown and the notion-update-page MCP tool now return HTTP 504 gateway_timeout when a request runs past its deadline. Before, they returned HTTP 500 internal_server_error. The notion-create-pages and notion-convert-page-to-skill MCP tools already returned 504 in this case. A 504 does not mean the write was undone, so check whether the change was saved before you retry it. A write that runs out of its time budget still returns 503 service_unavailable, with additional_data.retry_guidance. See Request limits for when to retry each status.
