Good news everyone! Now you can draw diagrams and charts right inside your notes with Mermaid support, completely free for everyone. Just like Mathjax support, Bear renders your diagrams live, showing the finished result right inside the note as you type.

What you can do with Mermaid

Mermaid is a simple way to describe diagrams using plain text. It is widely used in both technical and academic world. It works well for developers documenting specs and system flows, for product managers and business analysts mapping out processes, and for students and researchers demonstrating statistical results.

It’s also quite useful in daily life: Map out a decision with a flowchart, lay out a house renovation timeline with a Gantt chart, or break down a budget with a pie chart, all within Bear. Because the diagram is really just text, it lives right inside your note: searchable, easy to update, and never a flat image you have to redraw from scratch the moment something changes.

How it works in Bear

Type three backticks, label it mermaid, and write your diagram inside. Bear renders it live below. The diagram code will be hidden when you move the caret outside the code block.

There are many ways to stay focused, and keeping unnecessary things out of the way helps a lot. Today we are introducing Workspace, a new feature that makes tags even more powerful to help you focus on what matters without the rest getting in the way.

What is Workspace?

Workspace lets you turn any tag into a dedicated writing environment. Once set, Bear shows only the notes under that tag. The Sidebar shows only the tags related to it so you can use it to filter and navigate your notes, and all the Sidebar entries such as archive and Trash will also update accordingly. Everything else steps aside, the world is now zoomed in on exactly what you need right now.

How to Set a Tag as Workspace

Right click menu on a tag

Right-click any tag in the Sidebar and select “Use as Workspace.” Switching between workspaces or returning to the full notes view is just as easy, all from the same menu. For more details, check out this support page.

Workspace in Your Daily Workflow

Alex’s Bear set up at a glance

The best way to understand Workspace is to see it in action. Take Alex, a project manager who juggles multiple work projects during the day and writes a food blog in his spare time. …
