Things for Mac 0.8.6 – erste öffentliche Preview

April 2008.

This version is our first public preview

  • The Quick Entry dialog now marks due items Today immediately (this applies to active items in general)
  • Fixed a bug related to some date formats that contained minus signs.
  • Fixed problems that occurred when either CMD+5, CMD+6, CMD+8, or CMD+9 was used in the Quick Entry dialog (Tiger only).
  • Sometimes the tag window didn't update properly when the user rearranged tags. This is fixed.
  • Things now uses an expiration date of April 15, 2008 (v0.8.6 is our first public release).

Things for Mac 0.8.3

Things for Mac 0.8.3 umgeht einen Tiger-spezifischen Core-Data-Fehler, der Notizen mit „#“ beschädigte, deaktiviert vorübergehend Undo, verhindert leere Tags und behebt mehrere weitere Fehler.

  • Implemented a workaround for a serious Tiger specific bug in Apple's Core Data framework. Notes containing hashes '#' were garbled in ways that could even lead to Things archives becoming corrupted.
  • Disabled Undo. Undo is likely to cause instabilities. We will re-enable undo once we identified and corrected the problems.
  • Users are prevented from accidentally entering empty tags. Running this update also fixes archives that contain such tags. Previously, empty tags could even lead to Things becoming unusable.
  • Fixed a bug that could result in embedded help texts not being centered.
  • When the Quick Entry dialog was invoked in a space different from the main window, the mini calendar was not displayed. This is fixed.
  • Using the Keyboard shortcuts CMD+0, CMD+1, etc. (see the View menu) now also opens the main window if it has been closed previously.
  • Really :) fixed the bug that prevented mail links from being created for certain messages.

Things for Mac 0.8.2

  • Lists can now be navigated using keyboard shortcuts (Inbox Cmd-0, Today Cmd-1, etc.) or the "View" menu.
  • Added dialogs to give feedback in situations where user tries to initiate unimplemented operations.
  • Added an introductory start-up screen for new users.
  • Added help texts that are displayed instead of an empty list.
  • Fixed a critical bug where replacing a tag's title in the tag window led to Things becoming completely unresponsive.
  • Fixed a critical bug where successively invoking the Quick Entry Dialog using services could lead to previous titles being overridden by later ones.
  • Fixed a bug that could result in edits being lost when clicking outside of a to-do to close it.
  • Fixed a bug that could result in edits made in the header section of either projects or areas to be lost when the user switched to another list.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented mail links from being created for certain messages.
  • Things no longer crashes when the user's preferred date format does not contain the year component.
  • The tag field no longer changes case while entering new tags. If, for example, a tag "Bob" already exists, it is now easier to create a new tag "blog" without the tag field changing "b" into "B" while typing.
  • URLs pasted into the notes field are now formatted correctly.
  • Tag bar. Multiple tags can now also be selected using the command key.

Things for Mac 0.8.1

  • Added a dialog for sending feedback.
  • Natural language input for due dates.
  • Added a mini calendar for due dates.
  • Files can now be dragged to the notes section of to-dos. The file itself is not copied to the Things archive, only references are stored.
  • Email messages can be dragged to the notes section of to-dos (requires Apple Mail 3.1). Clicking on the corresponding link will open the message in the user's default email client.
  • Web addresses dragged from, e.g., Safari's address field, are now displayed using the web page's title.
  • Dragging files or web addresses onto Things' application icon opens the Quick Entry window with corresponding links added to the notes section.
  • Changed default hot key to CTRL+Space.
  • Pressing the hot key no longer brings the main window to front.
  • Pressing the hot key twice no longer crashes Things.
  • Fixed Tag autocompletion in Quick Entry dialog (only affected users on Leopard).
  • When the Tags field has keyboard focus, the down arrow key opens the add tag popup menu.
  • Disabled "New Tag" warning dialog.
  • When editing to-dos, holding the "esc" key no longer aborts editing, but save changes instead. (This is particularly useful when keyboard focus is in the notes section.)
  • Cmd-Tab no longer re-opens the main window.
  • Fixed service menu commands.
  • Preferences. The hot key field no longer gets keyboard focus when the preference dialog is opened. …
