Sunsama Changelog: 5. Oktober 2026

Added

  • Sunny reads your connected tools: Sunny can now look through your connected accounts right in chat and turn what it finds into Sunsama tasks. That covers Gmail, Slack, Jira, GitHub, Linear, Google Tasks, Todoist, Trello, Notion, ClickUp, monday.com, and Microsoft 365 (Outlook mail, To Do, and Planner).
  • Turn a subtask into its own task with Sunny: Ask Sunny to promote a subtask to a full task. It keeps its time estimate and tracked time, and you can undo it in one step.
  • Remove old Jira connections: You can now remove an old Jira connection without reconnecting to Jira first.
  • Resume a stopped Sunny reply: When you stop a Sunny response, the chat marks it as stopped. Say "please continue" and Sunny picks up where it left off.
  • Jump to today from a link: A sunsama://today link opens the desktop app on today, and a plain sunsama:// link brings the app to the front.

Improved

  • Tracked-time editor: Time entries are now grouped by subtask. When you move an entry to another day, the calendar follows it.
  • Searchable time zone picker: The time zone picker in Settings now has a search box, suggests your device's time zone, and lists common zones first.
  • Shorter MCP tool names: MCP tool names are now capped at 40 characters so they still fit after gateways add their prefixes. Three tools were renamed, so update any tool allowlists that used the old names. …

Weekly Product Changelog, September 23, 2026

Sorry, we missed a couple weeks of updates with people on vacation, this post covers everything since our September 4 changelog.

Desktop app 3.4.12:

⚠️ The desktop app now needs macOS 13 (Ventura) or later, and 64-bit Windows or Linux. On an older system, keep using Sunsama at app.sunsama.com.

  • Deeplink into desktop app: sunsama:// links now open the desktop app. sunsama:// brings Sunsama to the front, sunsama://today opens it on today, and sunsama://action/details/<task id> opens a specific task. This means a task link saved in Linear, Notion, or an email can open in the app instead of a browser tab. See Linking to Sunsama for how to build these links.
  • When you add integrations inside the Desktop app you get redirected back to the desktop app when the connection is complete.
  • The desktop app reconnects by itself after it loses the network. Previously it could get stuck on "Unable to connect" until you restarted it.
  • Pressing Cmd+Shift+A (quick add) while the app was still starting could put an invisible window over the whole screen and block every click. That no longer happens.
  • Updated the app to Electron 44.

Improved:

  • You can now ask Sunny to summarize the work you completed over any date range, like "what did I get done last week?", and narrow it to a single channel. …

Sunsama Changelog: 4. September 2026

Improved:

  • MCP and Zapier task creation now applies your import automations that set Sunsama task properties, like Notion's auto-assigned channel, or a synced due date, time estimate, and priority, matching how manual imports already work. (Automations that write back into the connected tool itself, like moving a Trello card, or setting Notion properties, aren't covered by this yet.)
  • If you're on Toggl's newer "Toggl 2.0" product, its API token has a different format than a classic Toggl Track key (which you need for the Sunsama integration), and pasting it wasn't working. We now catch a token that doesn't match the format we expect and tell you right away instead of a generic connection error, and added a help center note on exactly where to find the correct Track token.
  • Resolved Jira OAuth breaking changes that Atlassian introduced on their end. See the dedicated post for details on the one-time re-authorization.

Fixed:

  • Search no longer steals focus when you navigate away from it. Previously, opening search and then moving to any other view (Home, Today, Backlog) would silently refocus the search box, swallowing your next keystroke.
  • Imported meetings no longer get silently reverted when a calendar sync fails, most common for Outlook users with several calendars connected.
  • Fixed a crash loading the calendar view for some saved layout configurations.

On Monday August 31, 2026 Atlassian unexpectedly shipped breaking changes to Jira OAuth integrations. This made it impossible for any new users to add the Jira integration. Atlassian did not provide any way for us to edit our current integration configuration to be compliant with the breaking changes effectively stranding our current integration. We can't be certain what they broke since the changes are opaque to us but there were two issues we identified.

(1) Atlassian apps now use granular scopes, many of our test apps were automatically migrated but not the main one customers interact with. Unfortunately, the ability to transition to granular scopes existed no where in their developer portal which stranded us.

(2) Atlassian created a new flag for all integrations which decides whether permissions are granted for all the sites under your account at once or one site at a time. Our original integration used the old "all sites under the account" setting which was the only option at the time. Atlassian's developer portal made it impossible to swap to the new version when they made that optional - it can only be set exactly once when you create your integration's profile.

We've made many attempts to reach out to their support and senior leadership but heard nothing back about getting our integration transitioned. Instead of continuing to wait, we decided to pull the trigger and publish a brand new version of our Jira OAuth app. …

Sunsama Changelog: 28. August 2026

Improved:

  • Sunny and MCP are now fully available; no more "Beta" badges. (Voice mode is still labeled experimental since it's flakier than chat.)
  • Task automations now fire when using Claude Desktop or other MCP-connected AI assistants; completing or rescheduling a task through MCP now properly syncs with Todoist, Asana, ClickUp, Notion, Trello, and Gmail.

Fixed:

  • Trello panel no longer crashes with an error screen; resolved a bug where a failed request to Trello could corrupt the task list and crash the panel.
  • Desktop app: fixed a 5–7 second stall returning from Settings; going back to your workspace after Settings on Mac or Windows no longer freezes.
  • AI assistants now report the correct task category; fixed a bug where tasks in nested channels showed the wrong personal/work classification when read through MCP.
  • Monday.com integration no longer hangs for accounts with lots of boards; fixed a bug that could make the board list take nearly a minute to load, or fail outright, for accounts that hadn't finished picking their boards yet.

Sunsama Changelog: 21. August 2026

Improved:

  • Repeat tasks every 7 or 8 weeks: The recurrence interval used to stop at six weeks; now you can go further out.
  • Pasting links from more tools now creates real linked tasks. Paste a Todoist, Trello, Notion, GitHub, or Linear link (17 services in total) via MCP and you'll get a fully linked task with preview and deep link, same as pasting it directly in the app, not just a plain URL.
  • Agents can rename and delete channels. Sunsama's MCP server now supports channel management directly.
  • Emails linked via MCP now load correctly for everyone. Tasks an AI agent links to an Outlook email no longer show "(Private message)" to the mailbox owner, and agents can now resolve a plain email address to the right account automatically.

Fixed:

  • Fixed a bug where an unrecognized Google Calendar permission could freeze your whole workspace on a loading spinner.
  • Cleaned up confusing tooltip wording on the built-in Sunsama calendar's "Enable" toggle, it was implying something the user hadn't actually chosen.

Sunsama Changelog: 7.

Added:

  • Two-factor authentication: Add an extra layer of security to your account. Turn it on from Settings → Account, scan a QR code with your authenticator app of choice, and you're enrolled. Backup codes are provided in case you lose access to your device.

Improved:

  • Clicking the focus bar now just brings the Sunsama window forward, instead of also forcing focus mode on whatever task was in the bar.
  • Daily highlights email time no longer drifts. Dragging the shutdown line for a single day only changes that day's draft time.
  • Microsoft Planner's group picker now shows every group in your organization, not just the first 100, and groups you're actually a member of sort to the top.
  • Changing a task's planned time no longer bumps it up or down the list by priority; it stays put and only shifts to keep the day in chronological order.
  • Completing a task now syncs everywhere. Checking off a task linked to Google Tasks, Microsoft To Do, or Microsoft Planner updates the source item no matter where you complete it: mobile, Sunny, MCP, or the app.

Fixed:

  • Recurring tasks no longer skip an occurrence when you change the repeat frequency after moving the task to a new day.
  • Monday.com board loading no longer hangs indefinitely on a failed connection.
  • The global "add task" shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+A → Ctrl+Enter) now correctly switches Focus Mode to the new task. …

Sunsama Changelog: 24. Juli 2026

Improved:

  • Timer-aware subtask completion: Pressing C while a subtask's timer is running now completes that subtask instead of the whole parent task — press again to complete the parent.
  • Microsoft Planner: Personal Teams, Loop, and Project-backed plans now show up in the Planner picker. Previously these were invisible in Sunsama even though you could see them in planner.cloud.microsoft.
  • Search: Task search is now case and punctuation insensitive. Exact matches still rank highest.

Fixed:

  • Outlook email parsing: Outlook and mixed Outlook/Gmail email threads now split into individual messages instead of collapsing into one blob, so daily highlight summaries for Outlook accounts aren't empty or truncated anymore.
  • Editor: Typing right after a pasted link with a custom protocol (like a Shortcuts link) followed by a space no longer swallows what you type.
  • Asana panel: Fixed a bug where the Asana panel could show up blank on desktop (My Tasks and projects failing to load) even though the same account worked fine on web.
  • Gmail tasks: Tasks and subtasks created via Autoplan or MCP with a linked Gmail thread now open the correct email, and their Gmail icons are clickable again.
  • Ubuntu: Alt-drag task merging works again; it no longer silently drops the task in as a reorder instead of merging. …

Sunsama Changelog: 17. Juli 2026

Added:

  • macOS desktop app settings shortcut: You can now open Settings directly from the Sunsama desktop app menu on macOS with CMD , (command comma)
  • More supported deep links in task notes: Task notes now accept links from more apps, including Shortcuts, Logseq, Notion, Craft, Raycast, Zotero, Linear, Figma, VS Code, JetBrains, Discord, Telegram, and Spotify.
  • More task details exposed in MCP: Sunsama's MCP server now returns more information with tasks — when a task was created, when it was last modified, the exact moment it was completed, and its due date — so AI assistants can reason about task age, recency, and deadlines.

Fixed:

  • Focus bar progress visibility: The green progress sliver that appears when you start a task's timer was too small to actually notice, especially in dark mode.
  • Archive panel showing tasks that shouldn't be there: Fixed a bug that could leave certain completed tasks incorrectly stuck showing in the Archive panel.
