Motrix 2.0.0-beta.46

English |

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.46 adds verified one-click FFmpeg installation with a more compact interface, progress inside the install button, and clearer executable paths. It includes all updates since beta.44: safe Motrix app links, shutdown after downloads finish, Hungarian, Safari extension discovery, and download, NAT, and inspector fixes.

Highlights

  • Media tools can install an official FFmpeg build on supported macOS, Windows, and Linux targets. Motrix authenticates the release manifest and validates redirects, hashes, archive contents, executable architecture, and platform trust requirements before atomically activating it. FFmpeg remains a separate, user-initiated download rather than part of the app package (#2299).
  • Managed FFmpeg installations now live under binaries/ffmpeg-verified in Motrix's application data directory. The parent directory is created safely without overwriting manually installed tools. Detection shows the actual executable path; long paths keep their filename visible, with the full path available on hover and when copied. The compact, horizontal layout includes button progress and a link to the online manual (#2302).
  • The Downloads footer can shut down the computer once all downloads and …

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.44

English |

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.44 packages the Safari desktop bootstrap in signed macOS builds, improves registration when upgrading or switching installed copies, and makes unavailable download metrics easier to distinguish. The Safari extension remains independently distributed.

Highlights

  • Download rows distinguish a real zero transfer speed, an unknown value, and a metric that does not apply. Paused, completed, queued, and other inactive tasks leave speed and ETA cells blank; seeding keeps upload speed, and media merging clears transfer metrics. Zero speeds now participate in numeric sorting (#2275).
  • macOS signing now signs Safari helpers before the main executable seals the app, fixing the unsigned x64 registrar failure. The complete signature, entitlement, and notarization checks remain required (#2273).
  • macOS arm64 and x64 packages now include the Safari bootstrap service, registrar, and LaunchAgent. The helpers receive their required signatures and App Group entitlement before the app passes the existing notarization and package-verification gates (#2271).
  • Opening the installed Motrix app verifies that the registered service belongs …

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.42

English |

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.42 makes Tracker refreshes and task updates recoverable, fixes desktop notification delivery and Linux startup guidance, and improves localized units, download controls, and file completion reliability.

Highlights

  • Tracker subscriptions refresh independently of the download engine, retain bounded last-good source snapshots, and expose source, selection, and update history details. Supplemental selection uses enabled sources and recent health evidence. Existing BT tasks can preview and confirm Tracker changes while preserving original and manually added addresses, manual exclusions, and pause intent. Interrupted updates can recover; periodic source refreshes do not automatically rewrite existing tasks. Private torrents and torrents with unknown privacy stay outside public automatic injection (#2269).
  • Desktop download notifications respect the selected system/in-app display mode, including system delivery while Motrix is focused. Foreground completion bursts share a success toast. Linux replaces nonfunctional login-startup switches with desktop-managed setup guidance and a manual link (#2254, #2261). …

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.41

English |

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.41 expands the interface to 25 languages with right-to-left support, refreshes preferences and desktop notifications, and improves download recovery and file publication across local disks and network filesystems.

Highlights

  • The application now ships 25 interface languages, including Arabic and Persian with right-to-left layouts. Language selection keeps Follow System first; shared dialogs, sidebar controls, and download status headings are localized. Windows uses native Japanese and Korean font fallbacks (#2211– #2236).
  • Preferences gain a clearer layout and desktop notification display controls. Download preferences and directory edits save together, GeoIP edits remain in the dialog draft, and saved settings synchronize when WebSocket is unavailable. Startup respects hidden maximized windows, and Appearance hides an empty menu bar section (#2198, #2204, #2210, #2227).
  • Settings use new glass icons, the sidebar adapts its colors with a cyan default, …

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.40

English |

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.40 improves Dashboard monitoring and download controls, defaults desktop file removal to the system Trash, and adds verified Flatpak application bundles. It also fixes media progress, Server task updates, browser-provided filenames, and NAT socket lifecycle errors.

Highlights

  • Upload and download charts scroll continuously with stable vertices and continue moving back to zero after transfers finish. Dashboard task rows provide inline pause, resume, and retry actions; reduced-motion preferences remain supported (#2176).
  • Desktop task-file removal now defaults to the system Trash. Download settings offer an explicit permanent-deletion preference. Shift-remove preselects file deletion while keeping the confirmation dialog, and failed file cleanup preserves the task and torrent metadata for retry (#2176).
  • Dashboard controls, engine diagnostics, tray speed displays, and download labels are clearer. Speed columns fit the minimum window size while custom column layouts are retained. Clearing a selection closes its task inspector (#2168, #2174, #2175, …

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.39

English |

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.39 adds folder browsing and an application menu to Server, improves download controls and BitTorrent seeding, and fixes restart recovery for conflicting magnet sessions. It also refreshes dependencies and restores the macOS Menu Bar Only behavior after closing the main window.

Highlights

  • Server can browse and create download folders with breadcrumbs, direct path editing, keyboard navigation, sorting, and hidden-folder controls. Favorites and recent directories use shared preferences across New Task and General settings; Desktop retains its native folder chooser (#2144).
  • The Server logo opens an application menu for settings, task commands, local torrent files, help, and cookie-session sign-out. Torrent request limits default to 8 MiB and can be configured from 2–64 MiB with MOTRIX_TORRENT_BODY_LIMIT_MIB; changes require a restart (#2146).
  • Downloads retain sorting and column preferences, support queue reordering, and provide consistent selection, keyboard actions, compact menus, speed limits, and a resizable task inspector. Clicking a completed-download notification reveals the downloaded file when supported (#2143). …

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.38

English |

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.38 preserves the macOS menu-bar icon position, improves Windows SMB download finalization and recovery, and refreshes the dependency stack. It also includes the settings and connection-feedback improvements prepared for beta.37.

Beta.37 was abandoned: its desktop, update-feed, and container release workflow was cancelled before publication. Snap latest/edge had already received beta.37; beta.38 supersedes that build set. The beta.37 tag remains unchanged.

Highlights

  • On macOS, the menu-bar icon keeps its saved position across normal app exits and transitions through Dock-only Run Mode (#2131).
  • Windows download finalization supports SMB shares, including UNC and mapped drive paths. Recovery retries eligible failed finalization journals while preserving file-identity and replacement safeguards (#2132).
  • Dependencies are refreshed from a clean install, including Electron 44.3.0, React 19.3, Vite 8.3, Vitest 5, and pnpm 12.4.1. Compatible Zod dependencies share one version, and Flatpak source generation retains both documents in pnpm 12's lockfile. CI, signing inputs, and offline packaging use the matching pinned tool versions and checksums. …

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.36

English |

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.36 improves interrupted download recovery, adds an opt-in AppImage browser launch integration, and follows system conventions for size and speed units. It is intended for public distribution only after every protected release gate passes.

Highlights

  • A browser-specific Native Messaging registration failure no longer stops the desktop bridge or removes healthy registrations for other browsers. Discovery and extension settings remain available, and individual failures are logged (#2118).
  • Interrupted download finalization can recover from the downloaded files using Retry. Transient aria2 stop-cleanup races retry automatically, while persistent failures remain visible instead of leaving tasks stuck in Finalizing (#2115).
  • AppImage users can explicitly install a stable Native Messaging host, repair its registration, select a moved image, or remove the integration in Settings. Full browser cold reconnect with saved pairing credentials also requires the companion Extension update (#2116, Extension #18).
  • Size and speed units now default to decimal on macOS and binary IEC on …

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.35

English |

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.35 improves download task controls and completion display, adds native Arch Linux packages, and links the published Firefox extension. It is intended for public distribution only after every protected release gate passes.

Highlights

  • Pause state remains consistent across aria2 RPC polling. HTTP/FTP tasks publish their finalizing state before file processing, clear stale transfer metrics, and keep incomplete transfers below 100 percent (#2100).
  • Selected tasks remain visible beside the inspector, including after filtering or resizing. Task details show creation and completion times, and opening the destination folder works before the output file is ready (#2100).
  • Native Arch Linux .pacman packages are built and verified for x64 and arm64, with an additional x64 installation smoke test. See the Arch Linux guide for installation and updates (#2099).
  • Browser integration links now point to the published Firefox Add-ons listing.

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.34

English |

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.34 makes BitTorrent and magnet downloads more resilient when Web Seeds fail, peer discovery is slow, or a WebUI misses the file-selection event. It also adds an optional timeout that can start all files when a magnet selection remains unconfirmed. It is intended for public distribution only after every protected release gate passes.

Highlights

  • A failed HTTP Web Seed no longer stops an entire BitTorrent task through aria2's file-not-found limit. The BT-specific policy covers torrent and magnet submission, metadata retry and recovery, and torrent re-add paths, while ordinary HTTP downloads keep their configured policy (#2088).
  • Magnet metadata discovery now waits 600 seconds by default, with a configurable maximum of 900 seconds. Existing settings using the former 120-second default are migrated once; other saved values and later user edits are preserved (#2088).
  • Pending magnet file selections recover after refresh or reconnect, multiple pending tasks queue behind the active form, and the task inspector provides a manual selection action with pending and failure feedback. Direct WebUI responses and dialog revisions prevent stale forms from replacing or closing …

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.33

English |

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.33 adds direct installation links for the published browser extension and improves download recovery, authenticated downloads, and large-file finalization. It also adds a Reduce motion preference. It is intended for public distribution only after every protected release gate passes.

Highlights

  • Settings now provides four equal-width installation cards: Chrome Web Store, Microsoft Edge Add-ons, Firefox (coming soon), and GitHub development builds. The cards use original brand artwork and colors. The two official Chromium extension IDs under Trusted extensions link to their matching store pages. Both READMEs also link to the stores and pairing guide (8bc7660a).
  • Browser downloads use the task-cookie RPC, and bundled aria2 is updated to 1.37.0-motrix.14 for durable task cookies. Download request context is retained without putting cookies in task records or plaintext cookie files; unsupported engines are rejected instead of retrying without authentication (#2073, #2074).
  • Completed RPC downloads no longer restart after relaunch. Completion is saved …

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.32

English |

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.32 is a focused Windows reliability update. It restores normal desktop and browser-extension startup after an unclean shutdown and ensures the branded installer artwork reaches the isolated release build. It is intended for public distribution only after every protected release gate passes.

Highlights

  • On Windows, the desktop now recovers known bridge startup residue only after Electron confirms single-instance ownership. The recovery preserves local tokens and pairing data, remains limited to the default desktop data directory, and leaves custom bridge directories and Server mode on their existing strict paths. Native Messaging endpoint credentials also remain available across valid Windows DACL variations, avoiding an unintended switch to ticketless browser pairing (#2066).
  • Published Windows installers now retain the optional branded header and sidebar artwork through isolated finalization. Present images are staged and verified by digest, while missing optional images safely fall back to the NSIS defaults (#2067).

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.31

English |

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.31 is a reliability and desktop-polish update. It improves durable download finalization, fixes Motrix Extension startup in Docker, aligns window state and first-run styling across themes, and refreshes the Windows installer experience. It is intended for public distribution only after every protected release gate passes.

Highlights

  • Download finalization now uses a same-filesystem move when possible instead of copying the completed payload. The durable journal records that choice, recovery can restore an interrupted move safely, and task state is committed without mutating the live task before the filesystem transaction succeeds (#2056).
  • Headless Server containers can start the explicitly enabled remote Motrix Extension bridge on the container interface used by Docker port publishing. Startup diagnostics now identify the bridge ownership stage and fixed reason, and the deployment guide documents safe recovery of a stale or invalid ownership record (#2055).
  • Desktop windows select the correct solid background before the renderer mounts, preventing a light flash in dark mode. Fullscreen transitions now keep custom title-bar controls in sync, hide controls and drag regions while …

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.30

English |

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.30 is a security and compatibility update. It closes two Fastify vulnerabilities, constrains vulnerable transitive development dependencies, moves the desktop runtime to Electron 44, and refreshes the application and build toolchain. It is intended for public distribution only after every protected release gate passes.

Security and compatibility

  • Fastify is updated to 5.12.1, fixing CVE-2026-18504, where validation could accept a root primitive that route code received as a coerced object, and CVE-2026-16732, where numeric trustProxy hop counts could be spoofed. Motrix does not use the vulnerable numeric trustProxy form, but the patched release prevents accidental future exposure.
  • The transitive qs dependency is converged on 6.16.0 when consumers accept it. This fixes CVE-2026-82562 and CVE-2026-82417, which entered only through development tooling rather than the packaged Motrix runtime.
  • Electron Builder's transitive @xmldom/xmldom dependency is converged on 0.8.15, fixing …

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.29

English |

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.29 introduces the secure Motrix Extension control plane, brings the Desktop and Server application APIs to parity, adds a durable plugin hook runtime, and updates the bundled aria2 engine. It is intended for public distribution only after every protected release gate passes.

Highlights

  • Motrix Extension can pair with the desktop app through Native Messaging and MBP1. The reviewed protocol uses a short pairing code, encrypted WebSocket envelopes, durable credentials, bounded retries, and explicit revocation. The official Chrome, Edge, and Firefox identities are aligned across manifests, test vectors, and runtime policy. Development builds also keep their Native Messaging host attached to the isolated development profile (#2021).
  • Headless Server deployments can explicitly enable Motrix Extension pairing over a configured WS/WSS address. Admission, origin, route, process-ownership, and TLS policies keep the remote surface disabled unless the operator opts in; the release path includes compatibility, threat-evidence, integration, and soak checks (#2033).
  • Desktop and Server now share host-neutral application command and query …

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.28

English |

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.28 resolves beta blockers in direct-download naming and finalization, RPC lifecycle, proxy handling, Windows networking and integration, and Snap publication. It is intended for public distribution only after every protected release gate passes.

Highlights

  • HTTP(S) downloads now derive safe final filenames after redirects, request rewriting, plugin hooks, and proxy-aware remote metadata probes. Explicit user filenames remain authoritative, while failed probes retain a safe URL-based fallback (#1976).
  • The Files inspector keeps the logical HTTP/FTP destination name instead of exposing aria2's temporary .motrix suffix. Finalization rebases persisted file records after a successful rename without changing BitTorrent, Magnet, or multiplexed-download paths (#2001).
  • An explicitly empty RPC password now enables intentional no-token mode. Motrix still binds aria2 RPC to loopback, disables permissive cross-origin access, refreshes the RPC client before the first call to a restarted engine, and coalesces concurrent restart requests (#1987, #1988). …

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.27

English |

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.27 enables protected beta releases to publish verified amd64 and arm64 Snap builds to the Snap Store, adds GeoIP support to the Headless Server, and improves aria2 behavior, Windows integration, typography, packaging, and desktop details. It is intended for public distribution only after every protected release gate passes.

Highlights

  • Protected stable and beta tags now build, verify, and upload one complete two-architecture Snap set before releasing its exact revisions to latest/edge. Pull requests and manual runs remain build-only, and candidate or stable promotion continues to reuse the already verified revisions.
  • The Headless Server now exposes the same GeoIP and peer queries as the Electron app, forwards GeoIP events, closes the manager cleanly during shutdown, and prints a copyable Server URL when it starts. Its Add Task dialog now follows the desktop layout and animation behavior (#1986).
  • aria2 runtime defaults are aligned across new and existing profiles, while BitTorrent preview and file-selection behavior more consistently follows the task's authoritative metadata (#1982).

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.26

English |

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.26 makes interrupted direct-download recovery safer, adds system default-app controls on Windows and Linux, uses each platform's Downloads directory for new installations, and refreshes several Settings details. It is intended for public distribution only after every protected release gate passes.

Highlights

  • Interrupted HTTP and FTP downloads now persist a non-sensitive replay recipe and remote resource validators. On restart, Motrix inspects the partial file, aria2 checkpoint, final-path conflicts, range support, and the remote ETag or modification time before resuming. If identity or credentials cannot be verified safely, the partial file is preserved and Motrix reports why manual recovery is required (#1959).
  • Integration settings now report whether Motrix owns .torrent files and magnet: links on Windows and Linux. Windows opens the appropriate Default Apps page without rewriting protected UserChoice values. Native Linux packages can set the .torrent default through xdg-mime, while AppImage integration preserves and restores verified previous handlers (#1957).

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.25

English |

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.25 strengthens BitTorrent and Magnet task identity, recovery, and storage safety; modernizes AppImage distribution; and refines several desktop controls. It is intended for public distribution only after every protected release gate passes.

Beta.24 did not reach public distribution because the protected Linux smoke test looked for the AppStream application ID (app.motrix.native.desktop) instead of electron-builder's actual AppImage desktop entry (motrix.desktop). Beta.25 carries the same user-facing changes and corrects that release-only assertion; both AppImage architectures must still pass the complete no-FUSE extraction gate before publication.

Highlights

  • BitTorrent payloads now use a fixed-length internal staging workspace with validated per-file output mappings. Final names are restored after completion, and failed Magnet metadata resolution can be retried safely with a fresh engine task (#1930, #1932).
  • Magnet-to-BT conversion immediately persists aria2's authoritative file paths, sizes, and selection state. Domain file indexes consistently remain zero-based, including restore and reseed paths (#1934, …

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.23

English |

Motrix 2.0.0-beta.23 adds control over downloaded-file modification times, aligns launch and tray behavior with each desktop operating system, makes Settings controls more compact and consistent, and fixes New Task window shrinking on Windows. It is intended for public distribution only after every protected release gate passes.

Highlights

  • Downloads can now choose the modification time used for completed HTTP and FTP files. Local is the default and keeps the download completion time; Server applies the remote Last-Modified timestamp when one is available (#1542).
  • Appearance now uses platform-native launch terminology. macOS offers Dock and Menu Bar combinations, while Windows and Linux offer opening the main window or starting in the system tray. Linux also explains that tray support depends on the desktop environment.
  • Windows and Linux always retain a tray entry as a reliable way to reopen Motrix, including when an old settings file contains the macOS-only hidden tray value. A Linux tray click now toggles the main window, and context-menu handling uses the events supported by each operating system.
  • Settings use more consistent widths for short numeric fields and compact selectors. Speed-limit reset actions are grouped before their values, with …
