• SIRI SHORTCUTS: On iOS 12, you can use the new Siri Shortcuts feature. Siri will determine common actions you perform inside of Things and suggest them as shortcuts on your Lock screen, like “Show Today” or “Add To-Do”. But you can also build your own shortcuts in Things’ settings and record a voice trigger for them. Here are a few examples of what shortcuts can do:
  • Build your own Quick Entry – Record shortcuts for different things you enter often, like Errands or Movies you want to watch. Every time you invoke these shortcuts (e.g. “Hey Siri, add an errand”), Things opens to reveal a new to-do, with all the relevant details pre-filled, like tags, the list it should go to, etc. – all that’s left for you to do is enter the title and hit save.
  • Ready-made to-dos – Create shortcuts for adding to-dos that are always exactly the same, like a packing list, or your favorite recipe. When you invoke the shortcut, Things adds it in the background.
  • Quick access to lists – Record shortcuts to open particular lists, like Today, Upcoming, a project you’re working on, your Work area, and so on. You can also specify a tag that the list should be filtered by when it opens.
  • Build Workflows – Any shortcut can also be used in Apple’s new Shortcuts app, which allows you to combine multiple shortcuts from different apps into one workflow. …

• Fixed some texts in the tutorial project.
• Fixed some typos in non-English languages.
• Fixed some visual glitches in the Things Cloud settings on smaller iPhones.
• Fixed a visual glitch where changes made in the Today Widget would appear to be “undone” if the app hadn’t been run in the meantime.
• Fixed an issue where some nested tags wouldn’t show up in project headers.
• Fixed an issue where the “This Evening” header’s moon icon could overlap the text in some situations.
• Fixed an issue where some dialogs wouldn’t wrap correctly in some languages.
• Fixed an issue where start dates could be removed when dragging multiple scheduled items to a different heading.

• More graceful handling of calendars without titles (works around an iOS 11.4 bug related to the built-in Holiday calendar).
• Fixed some issues with scrolling while selecting items.
• Fixed an issue where a to-do moved out of the Inbox wouldn’t show the title of its destination list.

• Fixed an issue where the Undo history was lost when the app was temporarily backgrounded or the device was locked.

• AREAS — Now Collapsable! Without a doubt, collapsable areas has been one of our most requested features. If your project list is super long – or if you just don’t want to see work projects on the weekend – collapse your areas to hide them.
• TAGGING:
• We’ve made the tags window searchable. Sweet! Just pull down and start typing to find the tag you want.
• We’ve made app-wide tag searches broader. When you search for a tag, you won’t just see items with that tag, but also items with its nested tags.
• A feature from Things 2 has also made a comeback: you can once again filter by “No Tag”.
• INPUT/OUTPUT — Copy & Paste Magic:
• Paste text from other apps into Things to create new to-dos (multiple lines of text will create multiple to-dos). (On iOS, you’ll find the new paste option in the top right corner under the (v) menu.)
• Paste multiple lines of text into the title field of a to-do; the first line is the title, the rest goes into the notes.
• THINGS URLs — Update Existing Items. We were extremely pleased with the launch of Things URLs, which allow you to create data in Things from outside the app. One of the main feature requests we’ve received is to provide a way to also make changes to items that already exist. This release introduced the Things URL Scheme, which enabled three new features:

• LINKING TO THINGS: Things now supports a special kind of link (or URL) that starts with “things:”. These links can be used to quickly jump to a to-do or list in Things from other apps.
• POWERFUL AUTOMATION: Things’ links can also be used to execute a broad range of powerful commands from outside of the app – to create to-dos, show tag filters, perform searches, and so on.
• HANDOVER FROM OTHER APPS: Other apps can now easily send data into Things. Other developers wanting to export data to Things can easily do so with our open source Swift library.
• This release also enabled diacritic-insensitive search.
