<div align="center"> <img src="https://cdn.tw93.fun/pic/cole.png" alt="Mole Logo" width="120" height="120" style="border-radius:50%" /> <h1 style="margin: 12px 0 6px;">Mole</h1> <p><em>Deep clean and optimize your Mac.</em></p> </div>

Changelog

  1. Faster clean and uninstall: Clean no longer stalls on large Gradle caches (a 2,000-entry build cache went from 24 s to under a second), scan workers pick up the next folder as soon as one finishes instead of waiting for the slowest, uninstall measures preview sizes in parallel, and repeated setup for every log line and Trash move is gone.
  2. Uninstall finds leftovers again on Macs with a disconnected share: A network drive left mounted after its server or virtual machine stopped, such as a Parallels Windows drive, no longer makes every uninstall keep the app's leftovers, and when leftovers are kept the reason now shows under that app in the preview.
  3. Tidier Large files and clean output: Large files gains a review-only row for Core ML compiled model caches, long paths show their last two folders while the link still opens the full path, and agent versions Mole cannot classify are no longer listed as skipped.
  4. Clear stop in an inaccessible folder: Running Mole from a directory it cannot read now stops with one line asking you to cd ~, instead of repeating system errors through every step. …

<div align="center"> <img src="https://cdn.tw93.fun/pic/cole.png" alt="Mole Logo" width="120" height="120" style="border-radius:50%" /> <h1 style="margin: 12px 0 6px;">Mole</h1> <p><em>Deep clean and optimize your Mac.</em></p> </div>

Changelog

  1. More reliable app uninstall: Verified internal Time Machine snapshot folders no longer prevent app-copy checks from finishing, background items stay tied to the selected app, and retained-file reasons, Finder permission refusals, and reclaimed-space totals are reported more accurately.
  2. Clean protects renv and uncertain app caches: Saved whitelists no longer weaken renv protection, app caches stay untouched when running state is unknown, and a read-only probe timeout does not stop unrelated cleanup.
  3. Purge spends less time waiting on slow checks: A single slow activity check no longer holds up the whole batch, cancellation stops background checks, and filtering failures no longer repeat discovery.
  4. Analyze refreshes changed sizes: After deletion or a directory refresh, Analyze updates affected folder and overview totals instead of restoring outdated sizes from earlier scans.
  5. Status handles VPN traffic and partial JSON: Network totals use the active default-route tunnel without counting its carrier twice, and mo status --json preserves usable measurements when one collector fails. …

<div align="center"> <img src="https://cdn.tw93.fun/pic/cole.png" alt="Mole Logo" width="120" height="120" style="border-radius:50%" /> <h1 style="margin: 12px 0 6px;">Mole</h1> <p><em>Deep clean and optimize your Mac.</em></p> </div>

Changelog

  1. Uninstall finishes again: a slow login item or LaunchServices step no longer stops the run with only Uninstalling X... left on screen, and any real stop now names the app and the step.
  2. Uninstall works on managed Macs: when Mole cannot check for other copies of an app, it removes only the app you picked and leaves shared leftovers in place instead of refusing.
  3. Installer cleanup is more careful: an unreadable folder or ZIP no longer hides the readable installers, each file is checked again right before removal, and a timeout now shows what was removed and where it stopped.
  4. Analyze shows what it could not measure: folders it cannot fully read are marked partial or unknown instead of 0, and mo analyze --json reports this in scan_status.
  5. Clean lists more large payloads for review: Android emulators and system images, the Hugging Face cache, mise installs, and Gradle caches now show their size, and Mole never deletes them.
  6. Status stops retrying too fast: after a failed probe, the dashboard and mo status --watch wait before collecting again and keep the measurements that did succeed.

Mole V1.56.0 Measured: Schonenderes Optimize, Gemini-Daten bleiben unberührt

<div align="center"> <img src="https://cdn.tw93.fun/pic/cole.png" alt="Mole Logo" width="120" height="120" style="border-radius:50%" /> <h1 style="margin: 12px 0 6px;">Mole</h1> <p><em>Deep clean and optimize your Mac.</em></p> </div>

Changelog

  1. Optimize is gentler: it no longer rebuilds LaunchServices, which dropped VPN tunnels and sent Siri re-indexing, and it only reports LaunchAgents whose program is missing instead of deleting them.
  2. Clean leaves Gemini's Google state alone: deleting it while Gemini ran could start a disk write loop of about 50 MB/s.
  3. Homebrew old versions are cleaned and previewed: mo clean runs brew cleanup even with a small download cache, and mo clean --dry-run lists each version it would remove.
  4. A slow check no longer stops the whole run: a timed-out size or SQLite check now affects only that item.
  5. Previews and totals count only what goes: nested items count once, Docker images in use no longer read as reclaimable, and tiny build-artifact hints stay quiet.
  6. Smaller fixes: idle Brave Nightly caches are cleaned while another channel runs, VS Code extension cleanup works on macOS 15 again, mo remove keeps a custom config directory, and Status shows one more busy process.

Mole V1.55.0 Restraint: Homebrew-Downloads bleiben in Clean unangetastet

<div align="center"> <img src="https://cdn.tw93.fun/pic/cole.png" alt="Mole Logo" width="120" height="120" style="border-radius:50%" /> <h1 style="margin: 12px 0 6px;">Mole</h1> <p><em>Deep clean and optimize your Mac.</em></p> </div>

Changelog

  1. Clean leaves Homebrew downloads that are still transferring alone: a running brew fetch used to lose its in-flight cask downloads and its own lock files, and Homebrew's lock directory is no longer swept at all.
  2. A slow check no longer cancels the rest of the run: a Spotlight probe, a Large files sizing pass, or a simulator runtime review that times out now skips that item and carries on, and routine timeout notes stay out of the summary.
  3. Clean reaches Notion's workspace cache: only the cache storage is swept, the script cache and databases are left alone, and the whole family is skipped while Notion is running.
  4. Uninstall names what it could not verify: an incomplete scan, a failed cask lookup, and undetermined ownership each arrive with the check to run, and selector rows stay on one line in an 80-column terminal.
  5. mo works when it is invoked through a symlink: the launcher resolves the real directory behind the link, so it still finds its own libraries.

<div align="center"> <img src="https://cdn.tw93.fun/pic/cole.png" alt="Mole Logo" width="120" height="120" style="border-radius:50%" /> <h1 style="margin: 12px 0 6px;">Mole</h1> <p><em>Deep clean and optimize your Mac.</em></p> </div>

Changelog

  1. Optimize explains more causes of a slow Mac: performance diagnosis now shows swap pressure and memory-heavy processes, virtual machine memory use, and sustained CPU usage, while failed probes are reported without treating missing data as a healthy result.
  2. Smoother loading animations: scan indicators share a consistent dot animation, and Clean updates progress text in place between stages to reduce flicker and make waiting easier to follow.
  3. Clean reaches more app caches: adds Feishu/Lark webview caches, WeChat and WeCom container caches and logs, and stale Codex crash reports, with active apps and chat data protected.
  4. Developer cleanup covers abandoned browser sessions and test devices: reclaims orphaned Playwright browsers and stale profiles while preserving active sessions, handles Xcode test clones individually, and lists unused simulator runtimes with a manual removal command.
  5. Purge is easier to review and safer to automate: improves project search, paging, and selection responsiveness, preserves artifacts containing deployment keys, Git-tracked files, or nested repositories, names candidates it could not inspect, and requires --yes for unattended cleanup. …

<div align="center"> <img src="https://cdn.tw93.fun/pic/cole.png" alt="Mole Logo" width="120" height="120" style="border-radius:50%" /> <h1 style="margin: 12px 0 6px;">Mole</h1> <p><em>Deep clean and optimize your Mac.</em></p> </div>

Changelog

  1. Clean and Purge are faster without widening deletion scope: independent scans now run concurrently, stray home-level artifact folders such as node_modules are no longer mistaken for projects, and live container cache trees stay protected.
  2. Safety probe cancellation now stops the whole cleanup: if a live-cache or SQLite check times out or is interrupted, Mole preserves the current target, stops later cleanup sections, and returns the failure instead of continuing with partial evidence.
  3. Analyze and Status report fresher, clearer system state: Analyze shows the local Time Machine snapshot count and explains why snapshot-only space is excluded from directory totals; Status adds zombie process diagnostics and retains the last process sample as stale when a refresh fails.
  4. Everyday edges are quieter and clearer: CLT-only Macs no longer warn about a missing simctl, compressed menus keep the Space key hint, whitelist guidance accepts any path, and the x/text security update is included.

<div align="center"> <img src="https://cdn.tw93.fun/pic/cole.png" alt="Mole Logo" width="120" height="120" style="border-radius:50%" /> <h1 style="margin: 12px 0 6px;">Mole</h1> <p><em>Deep clean and optimize your Mac.</em></p> </div>

Changelog

  1. Uninstall keeps shared developer state safe: app names can no longer turn ~/.local, ~/.config, or ~/.cache into leftovers, and the final delete path protects those roots too.
  2. Autodesk Fusion cleanup reclaims old app bundles: mo clean removes only verified older Fusion bundles, keeps the current and newer versions, and pauses when Fusion or its updater may be active.
  3. Orphan service cleanup keeps working helpers online: Mole no longer unloads a registration before a refused removal, and it preserves standalone helper apps and helpers still referenced by a surviving plist.
  4. Stale SQLite sidecars no longer block cleanup: an idle -shm file left after a crash no longer looks like a live database, while live or inconclusive database families stay protected.
  5. Installation and command guidance are clearer: the README now uses real command output, documents the no-admin ~/.local/bin path, and explains that the legacy latest token installs unreleased main code.

<div align="center"> <img src="https://cdn.tw93.fun/pic/cole.png" alt="Mole Logo" width="120" height="120" style="border-radius:50%" /> <h1 style="margin: 12px 0 6px;">Mole</h1> <p><em>Deep clean and optimize your Mac.</em></p> </div>

Changelog

  1. mo clean keeps dependency and model state intact: downloaded dependencies, model weights, Poetry virtual environments, Deno state, and sensitive macOS caches stay in place, while large stores remain visible for review.
  2. Developer caches are covered more precisely: GitHub CLI, PyInstaller, Clang, Poetry, Go, and Cargo cleanup now follows each tool's real cache boundary instead of deleting whole stores by name.
  3. Canceled disk scans stay canceled: leaving or refreshing mo analyze stops recursive work and prevents stale results from returning, and the overview now includes uv cache space.
  4. Uninstall sizes are more honest: Mole reports physical disk usage, and Steam launchers show N/A (Steam-managed) instead of presenting a shortcut as the game.
  5. Project cleanup is safer and easier to review: mo purge loads saved whitelist rules before scanning, keeps each project's artifacts together, orders projects by reclaimable size, lets X skip one exact project, and never turns incomplete or replaced scan roots into deletion candidates.
  6. Homebrew Cask uninstall works on macOS Bash 3.2: app listing no longer stops early, so Cask apps continue through Homebrew's own uninstall flow. …

Mole V1.50.0: mo clean überspringt Caches laufender Apps

<div align="center"> <img src="https://cdn.tw93.fun/pic/cole.png" alt="Mole Logo" width="120" height="120" style="border-radius:50%" /> <h1 style="margin: 12px 0 6px;">Mole</h1> <p><em>Deep clean and optimize your Mac.</em></p> </div>

Changelog

  1. mo clean leaves open apps alone: an app's cache is skipped while that app is still running or still writing to it, so cleaning never touches data something is using.
  2. mo clean no longer stops halfway: a folder too big to measure or delete in time is skipped on its own, the rest of the cleanup still runs, and the summary tells you the freed number came out low.
  3. App leftovers finishes quickly: it used to sit on a scan that could take a minute and then report a row of failures, on a machine where it had never actually been able to remove anything.
  4. mo uninstall picks the right app more often: names like Tor Browser are matched as one app instead of two words, so an unrelated app is no longer caught by a single word.
  5. mo uninstall finishes on busy machines: with a lot of software installed the scan used to run out of time and report that nothing was removed; now it removes the app and leaves the leftovers.
  6. Developer caches are cleaned more thoroughly: several pnpm versions at once, Rust directories moved somewhere custom, Codex update files, and Gradle are all covered now. …

<div align="center"> <img src="https://cdn.tw93.fun/pic/cole.png" alt="Mole Logo" width="120" height="120" style="border-radius:50%" /> <h1 style="margin: 12px 0 6px;">Mole</h1> <p><em>Deep clean and optimize your Mac.</em></p> </div>

Changelog

  1. Install and update work on macOS 12 to 14 again: the update lock relied on a system tool that only newer macOS ships; where it is absent Mole now falls back to an equally safe lock directory.
  2. mo uninstall no longer exits silently: unreadable bundles, id-less launchers, unreadable volumes, and out-of-time scans now narrow the plan and keep going, remaining refusals print their reason, the spinner starts right after you confirm, and pressing q stays a quiet cancel.
  3. Uninstall finds renamed data directories: apps whose bundle id extends their display name, like AyuGram writing to "AyuGram Desktop", now have those exact directories cleaned too, under strict evidence so one app can never reach another's data.
  4. mo clean finishes instead of vanishing: a cancelled run prints a summary with the reason, a Mail Downloads folder that cannot be sized is skipped as one item, and one unreadable app no longer skips the whole leftovers section.
  5. mo update asks once and stays predictable: the admin session no longer lapses into a second authentication prompt mid-install, and the git fallback runs only on explicit updates. …

<div align="center"> <img src="https://cdn.tw93.fun/pic/cole.png" alt="Mole Logo" width="120" height="120" style="border-radius:50%" /> <h1 style="margin: 12px 0 6px;">Mole</h1> <p><em>Deep clean and optimize your Mac.</em></p> </div>

If V1.49.0 blocked you

V1.49.0 could refuse an install or update while reporting only a busy lock, with no reason and no way forward. In V1.49.1 the message names the cause and prints the command that fixes it.

Reinstall with curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/tw93/mole/main/install.sh | bash. If mo update needs admin rights, run it in a real terminal, or run sudo -v && mo update first.

Changelog

  1. Install and update refusals explain themselves: the installation lock now separates an untrusted parent directory, an unusable lock directory, a lock path replaced by a symlink or device, a missing admin session, and a real concurrent writer. Each names the directory at fault and prints the command that fixes it.
  2. A lapsed admin session no longer fails an install: when credentials expire between authentication and the privileged step, Mole asks once through the terminal and continues, and stops cleanly where there is no terminal to ask on.
  3. mo update stops before a privileged install it cannot finish: when the admin session cannot reach the installer child process, it says so up front instead of failing partway through. …

Mole V1.49.0: Robusteres mo update, sicheres Dry-Run

<div align="center"> <img src="https://cdn.tw93.fun/pic/cole.png" alt="Mole Logo" width="120" height="120" style="border-radius:50%" /> <h1 style="margin: 12px 0 6px;">Mole</h1> <p><em>Deep clean and optimize your Mac.</em></p> </div>

Changelog

  1. Updates recover safely: mo update can repair a broken local updater, keeps concurrent installs separate, pins nightly source installs, and verifies the exact installed version or commit before reporting success.
  2. Clean no longer appears stuck: long filesystem, metadata, and developer-cache scans now share firm deadlines. A timed-out scan discards partial results and stops later cleanup safely.
  3. Dry run really stays dry: MOLE_DRY_RUN=1 now enables the complete preview path, including Trash and system sections, without removing files.
  4. Cleanup boundaries are stricter: Mole protects active PowerLog data, macOS update staging, security-agent caches, compiled model caches, and live logs, with fresh checks at deletion time.
  5. Uninstall is safer: same-bundle apps on local disks and mounted volume roots keep shared services and leftovers intact. Size timeouts now stop before discovery, teardown, or deletion.
  6. Developer cleanup is more reliable: Xcode and Simulator activity checks are more accurate, and versioned Claude, Copilot, and other agent inventories reject partial or stale scan results. …

<div align="center"> <img src="https://cdn.tw93.fun/pic/cole.png" alt="Mole Logo" width="120" height="120" style="border-radius:50%" /> <h1 style="margin: 12px 0 6px;">Mole</h1> <p><em>Deep clean and optimize your Mac.</em></p> </div>

Changelog

  1. More reliable updates: mo update now retries temporary network failures and shows a clear error instead of exiting silently.
  2. Safer file removal: files that need extra permissions move through a protected Trash path, and failed moves keep a recovery location.
  3. Analyze works over SSH: files can move to Trash without Finder, and partial deletions update the list correctly.
  4. Safer cleanup rules: Mole leaves macOS update files alone and skips app caches when their status is uncertain.
  5. Fewer terminal hangs: background cleanup no longer takes over terminal input, and timed tasks clean up their child processes.
  6. Status settings stay intact: concurrent mo status sessions no longer overwrite each other's preferences.

Mole V1.48.0: Freigegebener Platz pro Kategorie in Clean

<div align="center"> <img src="https://cdn.tw93.fun/pic/cole.png" alt="Mole Logo" width="120" height="120" style="border-radius:50%" /> <h1 style="margin: 12px 0 6px;">Mole</h1> <p><em>Deep clean and optimize your Mac.</em></p> </div>

Changelog

  1. Clean tells you what each category freed: every section closes with its own reclaimed total, so a long run reads as a summary instead of a wall of rows.
  2. Cleanup reaches more real leftovers: JianyingPro generated caches, aborted idleassetsd aerial downloads that quietly fill /private/var/folders, Zed's bundled and versioned npm caches, and Dia rows retargeted at the Chromium caches that actually hold the data.
  3. A staged macOS update is left alone: cleanup asks Software Update whether anything is queued before touching macOS Install Data, and judges age by the newest write inside the folder, not the folder's own timestamp.
  4. Deleting from analyze works over SSH: removals go through trash(8) instead of a Finder dialog a remote session cannot answer, so a delete finishes rather than timing out.
  5. Cleanup keeps more of what you still need: Homebrew's api and bootsnap caches survive so brew responds right away next run, and compiled model caches, nested E5RT bundles, and imported JianyingPro material count as your data. …

<div align="center"> <img src="https://cdn.tw93.fun/pic/cole.png" alt="Mole Logo" width="120" height="120" style="border-radius:50%" /> <h1 style="margin: 12px 0 6px;">Mole</h1> <p><em>Deep clean and optimize your Mac.</em></p> </div>

Changelog

  1. Uninstall no longer freezes at prompts: background scan workers could steal the terminal and suspend mo uninstall before or after a removal; three layered fixes keep the prompt in the foreground on every shell.
  2. Accurate CPU numbers on Apple Silicon: mo status no longer reads parked efficiency cores as 90-100% busy or measures its own startup burst, so totals now track top instead of running 30+ points high.
  3. New Legacy Overrides step in optimize: detects hidden App Nap and disk-image verification overrides left by old tweak utilities, and removes only the override key so macOS defaults apply again.
  4. Cleanup covers more developer leftovers: guarded Codex Desktop update staging and Tart VM caches, Terragrunt caches in purge, and stale Edge updater payloads older than your installed Edge.
  5. Install integrity is now fail-closed: a failed checksum or attestation aborts the install instead of silently downgrading to an unverified source build, and delete-path validation now resolves ancestor symlinks before deciding. …

Changelog

  1. Homebrew cleanup keeps your tools working: brew cleanup could drop active executable links, so Mole now snapshots them first and restores any that cleanup removed while their formula is still installed.
  2. Cleanup leaves in-use app data alone: legacy LM Studio data and Raycast X (v2) files are preserved when cleaning or uninstalling their older siblings.
  3. No more hung prompts or broken terminals: interactive commands keep the foreground so nested sudo reads no longer stall, and the terminal is restored after you cancel an uninstall.
  4. Updates repair themselves: an interrupted helper download no longer leaves a broken analyzer that still reports you are current; the next update stages and repairs it.
  5. Steadier analyze and status views: stabler analyze output, clearer status header specs, no spinner or section flicker, and clearer dry-run summaries.
  6. purge honors scan roots outside home: artifacts under configured roots such as /var/www can now be removed, with the existing depth and out-of-root safety checks intact.
