Here we go - the Hotfix 2! A few more UI improvements, now it runs a lot smoother. Also, we paid special attention to the Firefox compatibility problem. Five quick stitches and AdGuard for Windows is patched up as good as new.

Here comes AdGuard for Mac 2.4! Two betas served as cornerstones for this new version and we are glad to present it to you five months after the previous release.

The biggest thing that has changed here is the new Assistant. CoreLibs has traditionally been updated, too, which enhanced filtering quality. In other aspects, 2.4 is more of a bugfix release. We cleaned it from the recurrent problems of the previous versions, polished it up, so it works nice and smooth.

AdGuard Browser Assistant is a new browser extension that simultaneously takes over the roles of the old Assistant and of the integration mode. We definitely support the functional approach, so we thought: why distribute workload between two old tools when one new extension can handle it better? Now let us tell you what AdGuard Browser Assistant is capable of.

What can you do with the help of the Assistant? Enable/disable filtering on the current webpage, manually block any element on the page, reporting the website if something goes wrong or view the filtering log. Release rule №1 (or Murphy’s law, if you like): even when everything seems perfect, one or two hotfixes follow the new version.

This is a minor post-release fix. We’ve slightly tweaked UI trial windows, so now ‘I have a license’ option is not hidden anymore in some cases. Also, fixed the issue when a message can't be sent to support. And we also took our chance to polish a few other important things under the hood.

There's a clear headliner for the new AdGuard for Windows update: AdGuard Browser Assistant. It's a browser extension to help manage filtering right from the web page that replaces the old Assistant. We also fixed a bunch of bugs and overall enhanced the app to work faster and better.

Meet AdGuard v3.4 for Android, it’s time for it to see the world! Having tested two betas, we feel confident to present this version to a wider audience. Spring is a time for renewal, and software is not an exception. We've fixed some old bugs, updated CoreLibs and made the app more compatible with Android TV.

This bug was a hard nut to crack. For a long time it appeared randomly (at least, it seemed so) on devices of AdGuard users. Still, the symptoms matched: smartphones lost any network completely while AdGuard was turned on. Of course, it was crucial for us to solve this problem, and at last, we've managed to do it. It’s beyond words how relieved we feel afterwards, let alone the affected users!

[Fixed] Firewall's restrictions are ignored when WiFi gets enabled #3313

Another troublesome bug that deserves special attention. In the previous version 3.3, if you had specifically prohibited some apps from accessing the Internet via mobile data, the restrictions worked right up until you enabled Wi-Fi, which was not the intended behaviour.

After a long struggle and countless iterations we're finally ready to present AdGuard v4.0 for iOS! It's a huge update with many, many new features, design changes, bugfixes and whatnot. Let's not forget about DNS protection: a way to have full control over DNS traffic on your device. Let's check it out:

Major design changes

Traditionally, a major version increase heralds a lot of changes regarding the UI. This time is not an exception. And we really mean a lot!

General design changes: new icon styles, new menu logic, revamped main screen

Advanced mode: additional settings for advanced users. Use at your own risk!

Activity feed: DNS requests log, exhaustive request details.

Most active companies: not only you now can see to which company this or that DNS request belongs, you can view the "leaderboard" on the 'Most active compoanies' screen, accessible from the activity feed.

The last AdGuard for Android release of the decade! This sounds solid. Anyway, it’s more of a coincidence than anything else that such a massive update falls right on Christmas. And don’t get us wrong: it is massive. Multiple major features and over 50 lesser ones — all in all it combines to make a nice Christmas gift for y’all!

[Improved] Filtering engine

Version 3.3 brings scriptlets and $redirect modifiers support. Scriptlets is a powerful ad-blocking tool that helps to block ads on websites that use different circumvention techniques. $redirect modifier is another tool that allows substituting an ad with special ‘resources’ instead of blocking it. For instance, it can replace a banner with a transparent 1x1 image.

We sure love us some redesign! This time, we revamped the onboarding sequence (basically, what you see when you launch the app for the first time). Key changes:

An option to choose a ‘quick’ or a ‘long’ configuration: you’ll be asked to either make only key decisions or set most of the settings manually

New option to allow sending some technical and interaction information that will help us further improve AdGuard

One of the best things about Christmas is that everyone gives each other presents! So here’s our humble gift to you: AdGuard v7.3 for Windows. We hope you’ll like it, because we put a lot of effort into its development.

This version features improved ad blocking (thanks to added support for scriptlets and new modifiers), some major networking improvements and a new option to activate AdGuard via your adguard.com personal account.

[Added] Scriptlets support

Scriptlets is a powerful ad blocking instrument. You can say that scriptlet is an internal script (a mini-program) that we install with the app, and then execute that script with the help of filtering rules. Putting it simply, scriptlets allow us to modify how the code of the web page behaves. As for the practical use, this helps to fight adblocker circumvention, for example, and is also useful in some other cases.

[Added] $redirect and $rewrite modifiers support

They are practically the same modifiers, and they allow to substitute resources. If you are not a custom filtering rules aficionado, don't bother with it. Just know that it is yet another instrument in the hands of filter developers that helps to block ads more efficiently.
We should mention that both $redirect and $rewrite modifiers are still kind of working in test mode, but they are fully operational and you should feel free to use them. …

[Added] Custom userscripts support #11

Userscripts, or “extensions” as we also call them, are highly useful mini-programs that change the behavior of web pages. Every AdGuard for Mac user probably knows about at least some of the extensions added by default, for example, AdGuard Assistant or Popup Blocker.

Now you have an option to add any custom extensions by clicking on the plus symbol in the “Extensions” tab of AdGuard settings window. You are able to load userscripts either from a local file or by URL.

This is something we’ve already tried with some of the other AdGuard products, and it proved to be a useful addition. Basically, instead of entering a license key directly, you can link your adguard.com personal account to the app by entering the credentials, and AdGuard will automatically get activated if there’s at least one eligible license key in your account.
